San Juan Islands
The San Juan Islands consists of hundreds of islands north of Puget Sound. The islands are accessible from either Anacortes or Seattle and during summer around 1.5 million visitors descend upon the islands, particularly the larger islands like San Juan Island, Orcas Island and Lopez Island.

Coming & going
Washington State Ferries (tel (206) 464 6400 or 800 843 3779; website www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries) sails from Anacortes to the main islands in the group and Victoria Clipper (tel 800 888 2535; website www.clippervacations.com/ferry/) sails from Pier 69 in Seattle to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island.
Local transport
