Olympia has good transport connections with other cities in the Pacific Northwest. Amtrak (tel (360) 923 4602; website www.amtrak.com) trains to Seattle and Portland stop at the station at 6600 Yelm Highway. Greyhound (tel (360) 357 5541; website www.greyhound.com) buses to Seattle and Portland stop at 107 7th Avenue SE.
Intercity Transit (tel (360) 786 1881 or 800 287 6348; website www.intercitytransit.com) provide local bus service in Olympia and Thurston County. Bus tickets cost 75c and day passes are $1.50.
Washington State Capitol and the adjoining complex of government buildings dominates Olympia. Tours of the complex run hourly.
