The Port Authority of Allegheny County runs Pittsburgh’s public transport system that is comprised of buses, a light rail network called the T and two funiculars, known locally as inclines.
Pittsburgh's local bus network includes several bus ways. It is quite an extensive system with several useful routes including 28x, which goes to the airport. Bus fares range from $1.50-$3.25. There is free bus travel in the Free Zone in the city centre.
The T consists of several light rail lines that run underground through the city centre and then above ground through the southern suburbs. It is a handy way to get to the train station and across the city centre. One way fares cost between $1.75 and 3.10, although travel is free in the Free Zone in the city centre.

Pittsburgh is home to two funicular railways, known locally as inclines. The Duquesne and Monangahela Inclines are both on the south side of Pittsburgh and offer access to the residential neighbourhoods on Mount Washington. They are considered by some to be the city's top attraction and offer a great view of the city from the top. The Monangahela Incline is the most accessible being easily reached from the Station Square T light rail station.
The one way fare is $2.
