Pittsburgh

Eating & drinking

Pittsburgh has a good choice of places to eat. There are the usual lunch-time joints in the city centre, plus a more eclectic variety of affordable restaurants in the Strip District (north east of the train station), Oakland (the student area 5km east of the city centre) and on the South Side.

The Strip District has a good choice of affordable places for a bite and many are open around the clock.

DeLuca’s (2015 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh; tel (412) 566 2195) claims to have Pittsburgh’s best breakfast with prices starting at $2.99.

Rosebud Fine Food Market (100 7th Street, Pittsburgh; open Mon-Sat 8am-8pm) is the only supermarket in the city centre. The Giant Eagle supermarket chain has a good selection of stores in the Pittsburgh region. The Cedar Avenue Giant Eagle (318-320 Cedar Avenue, Pittsburgh; open Mon-Sat 7am-11pm, Sun 8am-9pm) on the North Shore is the closest branch to the city centre.
