This small town of 5000 people in northern New Mexico has long been a popular artists’ colony and town’s adobe architecture and bohemian atmosphere continues to attract tourists. Taos is noted as one of North America’s leading art colonies and the Taos Art Museum displays a collection of work from the Taos Society of Artists. The museum is housed in the former home of the noted Russian painter Nicolai Fechin.

This 1000-year-old site is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the United States. It is comprised of five-storey adobe homes and is home to 4500 Native Americans who have maintained their traditional lifestyle here for the past 1000 years.
