Los Alamos

Los Alamos is best known as the home of the top-secret Manhattan Project, which was the name of the World War II programme to develop the first atomic bomb. Many travellers use this town of 12,000 people, 55km northwest of Santa Fe, as a base to explore the surrounding countryside but most visitors come here out of curiosity for the town’s classified past.
