Coming & going
San Diego enjoys excellent transport connections, although international (except buses to Mexico) and longer domestic trips usually involve a connection in nearby Los Angeles.
AIR
San Diego’s Lindberg Field (tel (619) 231 2100) is 5km west of the city centre and has a lot of domestic – but very few international – flights. The Flyer Bus (route 992) ($2.25) runs frequently between the airport and the city centre.
BUS
Greyhound have frequent coaches from San Diego to Tijuana (Mexico), Los Angeles and Phoenix. Most longer trips involve a change of buses in Los Angeles. The Greyhound bus terminal is at 120 W Broadway (trolley Civic Center).
TRAIN
Amtrak (tel 800 872 7245) trains run from San Diego to Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo, although train travel to most other US destinations involves a transfer in Los Angeles.
San Diego’s train station is at 1050 Kettner Boulevard (trolley America Plaza).
