San Diego enjoys excellent transport connections, although international (except buses to Mexico) and longer domestic trips usually involve a connection in nearby Los Angeles.
San Diego’s Lindberg Field (tel (619) 231 2100; website www.san.org) is 5km west of the city centre and has a lot of domestic – but very few international – flights. The Flyer Bus (route 992) ($2.25) runs frequently between the airport and the city centre.
Greyhound (website www.greyhound.com) have frequent buses from San Diego to Tijuana (Mexico), Los Angeles and Phoenix. Most longer trips involve a change of buses in Los Angeles. The Greyhound bus terminal is at 120 W Broadway (trolley Civic Center).
Megabus (website www.megabus.com) services to Los Angeles depart from the Five Star Parking Lot on 13th Street, between G and Market Streets (trolley Park & Market).
Amtrak (tel 800 872 7245; website www.amtrak.com) trains run from San Diego to Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo, although train travel to most other US destinations involves a transfer in Los Angeles.
San Diego’s train station is at 1050 Kettner Boulevard (trolley America Plaza).
