Oakland
Although considered a suburb of San Francisco, Oakland is also California’s eighth-largest city with a vibrant downtown core and a population of over 400,000 people. The city is the birthplace of the Mai Tai cocktail (invented at Trader Vic’s restaurant) and Rocky Road ice cream and its attractions include the Chabot Space and Science Center, Jack London Square, Lake Merritt and the Oakland Museum of California.
