The best spot for eating in Oakland is the 10-block stretch of International Boulevard in the Fruitvale neighbourhood, which is noted for its good value ethnic restaurants. These include the excellent El Gordo taco truck (corner International Boulevard and 40th Avenue, Oakland; BART Fruitvale), San Jose Taqueria (corner International Boulevard & 35th Avenue, Oakland; BART Fruitvale), which many locals say has the city’s best Mexican food and Taqueria La Costa (corner International Boulevard & 37th Avenue, Oakland; BART Fruitvale), a Mexican restaurant with outdoor seating.
Saigon Wraps inside the Fruitvale Transit Villate (BART Fruitvale) claims to have introduced the Bánh mì sandwich to California in the 1980s.
