Phoenix
The largest city in the southwest – and one of the largest in the United States – is a sprawling metropolis with a metropolitan area that encompasses other large cities including Mesa, Scottsdale and Tempe.
The Phoenix area is a popular resort for Americans from colder, northern states who come down here to play golf and bask in the sunshine but it doesn’t have so much to offer the backpacker, although it Phoenix is a good gateway to the national parks elsewhere in Arizona.
