This unique national park contains one of only two petrified forests in the world plus an interesting multi-coloured desert landscape. At the southern end of the park is the Petrified Forest, which consists of petrified logs dating from the Triassic period. The park’s other feature is the colourful Painted Desert, a badlands desert landscape in the northern part of the national park. The park’s visitors’ centres have informative displays about the park’s unique features.
Admission to the national park costs $10 per vehicle for a seven-day visit.
